Re: A Special Announcement from EA

The number one thing I want to see from a reboot is a return to plausible story telling. Red Alert was my top game as a kid, and even though you had the campy bad accents and tesla death lasers the world still felt real. I felt like I was saving Europe in the Allied campaign. RA2 broke that sense of...

Re: Mechanics, engineers and scrapping and restoring husks

Thinking out loud here re: Hijacker -> Thief. What about going the RA2 spy route with the Thief and allow it to steal plans for tech options when infiltrating a building? For example, infiltrate an allied war factory and you're now able to produce Mobile Radar Jammers. Feels a bit light to me to jus...

Mechanics, engineers and scrapping and restoring husks

Time for my first balance topic of the new release: We’ve seen several discussions over the mechanic’s husk restore ability, especially the ability to recover an MCV. I’m going to take a moment and discuss a couple options for us to pursue this release cycle. A handful of folks have suggested that t...

Re: Campaign Maps

Here's a better question: Where can I get the original maps files to import?

Re: Campaign Maps

How do you convert the original maps to ora maps? At the risk of getting off track on the original campaign (working on Soviet09 atm), I'd like to take a look at doing a few aftermath missions.

Re: Using of software programmable macros in competitive games

If I were to code it, I'd look for a repeated sequence of multiple inputs within a small period of time, so mashing one key wouldn't do it, it'd have to be a combination of inputs happening in a time-frame that isn't humanly possible, for example f1, f1, f1, f3... within 500ms or so, the timeframe ...

Re: RAGL Season 5 Post Season Discussion

@WhoCares I don't like what I believe to be cheating; you don't like being called a cheater. I get that. A few minutes ago I wanted write up a long dissection of how each thing you've said about me is wrong, but ... I don't feel like it now. I'm reading today's news and apparently someone decided to...

Re: RAGL Season 5 Post Season Discussion

The fact that we can't even agree that cheating is indeed bad is disheartening. I've lost any and all desire to play this game competitively primarily because of this issue. People are way underselling how much impact these macros have. I can't begin to count the amount of games I would have won if ...

Re: RAGL Season 5 Post Season Discussion

Definite way to identify 3rd party macro use: Their APM spikes from 20-30 to 50+ in a second. (This is usually laughably high like 80-120) Like I said, there are probably some work-arounds. I'm sure the craftier types will find a way to tone their macros down. But if we can't ban them entirely the n...

Re: RAGL Season 5 Post Season Discussion

Agree with everyone that says we need a shorter season. I'd like to see something along the lines of what GSL does, which goes from a group play to single elimination rounds. It's not exactly like the world cup as group play is basically a mini best-of-three double elimination bracket. Players aren'...

Re: THE NEW PLAYTEST RELEASE: INITIAL THOUGHTS

Loving the new playtest. Can't believe how much better it plays with the fix that reduces the order delay. If my math is right every command you give happens .2 seconds faster. Good micro just got a huge buff. ___ Heads up to folks on the balance front: I'm leaning towards reverting the extra range...
