There two generations engine:
RA1, CNC1: Sprite Engine

RA2, YR: Sprite&Voxel Engine

So, the next game should be Totally Voxel Engine

Hope EA can do that.

None of those would happen. EA is never going to open source anything or support 3rd party patches like that. There is a chance they might do mod support (however unlikely that is) but it wont be to the degree you suggest. And its unlikely they are going to produce a new 2D engine, its all 3D. Unle...
