Re: Future of RAGL
I am sure you have your reasons but I am very disappointed to read this. I have enjoyed every edition of RAGL a lot (OK, RATL was a not a success but I am blaming the timing for it) and your participation was part of that success. Don't really understand how playing a game we all love to play can en...

Re: Red Alert Global League: Season 9 - Post Season Discussion
I agree with most of what has been said. Even though I lost most of my games, I really enjoyed this season a lot. Even though I don't have the time to follow all the discussions on Discord, I felt it was also a great way to build a community around the shared passion for this awesome game. It's a pi...

I guess you meant UTC+2 as we are now on DST (aka 'summertime').

Server ranking
Hi, I have been playing OpenRA for over two years and I feel it's also time to give back to the community. One of the frustrations shared by all (novices and masters alike) is the poor match making. The game is much more fun if you can play against people who are more or less the same level. Another...

My first victory on Forgotten Plains.
Situation looks dire as TiTo destroys most of my power.
Spectators already quit as it seems a done deal..

Imagine you log in on some openra competition website as 'spetsnaz84' and it stores the IP address (say 1.2.3.4) for a short amount of time (say 2 hours) in a database. If then I start to play a game (and I just found out the replay files store IP addresses of the players), the script can then corr...

Maybe it's easier to keep the ranking server based: Let a script process the replays on the official servers. This at least prevent fraud with fraudulent replay files. The only big problem then is identity. Hope can we prevent impersonation ? While IP-based authentication is indeed not flawless, it ...

Why not just use ELO-ranking ? or even better a Glicko/Glicko-2. Anyway, there are two additional problems that Elo does not address (afaik Glicko addresses only the latter or even both): Rating inflation. Long-standing players getting more and more points from newcomers that get into and out of th...
