Recreating Promotional Image Maps
Returned to OpenRA to share some screenshots of a fun project I'm working on. I tried recreating areas from a promotional image for Red Alert 1 in OpenRA's map editor to see if it was possible and the results came out pretty well. Here's the original screenshot that I used as reference: https://i.im...

Disabling Helipads in CNC Map Rules
Can helipads (HPAD) be disabled in a map's rules in CNC like they can in RA? I tried using this: Rules: HPAD: Buildable: Prerequisites: ~disabled And it crashed the game. I wanted to update my remake of Field from Renegade to make it more like the original map without having to set the match to a lo...

Very sad that the CD itself is missing. As a heavy collector of all sorts of game-related media, I would love to have that iso in my collection. There ought to be interesting stuff on the CD. Ah well. One can only hope that an untouched image has been taken at some point... Yeah. I would definitely...

Re: Chinese Bootleg Red Alert Cover Art
Behind the centerpiece is a scene of an aircraft carrier with what appear to be F-15E Strike Eagles from the 80s (because they're as generic of fighter jets as you can get for the 90s) taking off from it. Hate to go all military fanboy on ya but those are all F-4 Phantoms. Huh... could have swore t...

Chinese Bootleg Red Alert Cover Art
Since the random discussions section is closed, I thought I'd post my little finding here since it's at least Red Alert-related. A few weeks ago, I was in the Philippines and stumbled upon this gem when I was looking through my cousin's old PS1 games. http://i.imgur.com/zBIEIvgl.jpg It's a Japanese ...

Reinstalling Old Custom Maps
So by some chance, I figured it would have been a smart move to save backups of all of my maps before downloading the game update. Turns out it was a REALLY smart move because the map folders were wiped clean. Anywho, do I have to re-download every single map that I uploaded to the Resource Center (...

What was requested (disabling certain units) can already be implemented using YAML rules settings. On wall hit detection, I have a feeling this might be possible with more complex modding (invisible walls, YAML edits to every single weapon so this new wall can block them, by 'complex' I mean expect...

I've come to terms that I need to learn how to mod stuff but, the wall hit detection is a different story though. I think now that I've removed buildable aircraft from the equation, I can live with the planes dropping crates in the tunnels. It always happens when I least expect it and it always make...

Thanks for the apology. I thought I actually did something to get on your bad side. At least we have an understanding now. Sure I know how to edit the rules for maps now but, the Interior theme (skirmish or not) still needs some polishing. I LOVE the tile sets but, when I tested the map, I noticed t...

Its nice to have a few buildings in the game that look like they could do something but don't. It gives mappers who can't make models something to use. It also gives modders an exploitable model. I like what Insert did, he made the tech center into an observation post that gives fog of war vision. ...

I will admit I did sound like I was whining. Using images though, that's just something I do on a regular basis because I feel like visuals help. I'm one of those type of people that follow landmarks more that street names (if that makes sense). I wasn't by any means trying to push my views further ...

it doesn't hurt to try. it doesn't hurt to try OmNoms suggestion for your map rather than saying if you cant get your own way, might as well remove the theme entirely touché But, the only I say remove the theme is because it doesn't seem like anyone really cares that the theme can't even function ...
